Typically
used in shore
based test, evaluation and training
commands, the
FX-4P and FX-4S are normally
used to link remotely located
NTDS
equipment,
such as radar or sonar units
to a central switching center.
FX-4P
For this type of application,
a FX-4P would be
located at the remote site,
within normal
NTDS
cable length of the equipment.
The two channel group capability
can be used to allow two NTDS
units to alternately share
a single fiber optic link or
to
allow the remote equipment
to be connected to a local
control
panel for test and maintenance
purposes and connected to a
central switching center when
desired
for other purposes. The fiber
optic link from the FX-4P can
be connected to another FX-4P
or to an optional fiber optic
multi-function card in a X-COM
XPS-32 matrix switch. When
connected to a XPS-32, the
switch matrix
has direct access to the remote
equipment in a fully transparent
manner as if the equipment
were connected directly via
NTDS cables.
